Following on from the success of last years Paddlesport weekend, the Regional Coaching Committee are happy to announce, with the support of Aldwark Scout Activity Centre, our 2009 dates, April 4th & 5th! This like the previous weekends promises to be a great weekend for both coaches and paddlers alike. The weekend if offering a vast range of courses and paddling opportunities; first aid, paddlesport skill training, sea kayaking on a river, open canoe touring, specialist open canoe and a coach update forum. New BCU 3 Star Touring Award |

The new BCU 3 star touring award is the latest addition to the suite of BCU performance awards. This award is aimed at paddlers who enjoy the journeying element of our sport. It tests the personal skills, and safety and rescue skills required to take part in jounreys on open-water, estuaries, or rivers with a discernable green flow, covering the skills required to deal with force 2-3 wind conditions. The full syllabi and trainer/assessor guidance notes are availableto download from the BCU web site (www.bcu.org.uk), along with the other BCU star awards. |

Canoe England Coaching Conference - Jan 17 & 18th 2009
The next Canoe England Coaching Conference will include a full and exciting program for existing BCU Competition and Recreational Coaches across all levels, providing the opportunity to network with like-minded coaches, and to learn from some of out cutting-edge deliverers. Attention all coaches – first aid matters |

In order for the BCU to recognize your coaching qualifications up-to-date you are required to have your First Aid Certificate logged on your record. For Level 1 and 2 coaches this needs to be a minimum four hours training including CPR/EAV. For Level 3 coaches and above, eight hours including CPR/EAV is required. A list of acceptable first aid awards is published on the BCU website (www.bcu.org.uk) Please send us a copy of your latest first aid certificate! |
