On the water and off, YCC is one of the liveliest and best kayak clubs in the county. But you don't have take our word for it - we'll admit to bring just a tiny bit biased. Please have a look around our website or better still come and join us in person and find out for yourself! We meet every Wednesday night throughout the year. After every session, you will always find us enjoying a little liquid refreshment in the Black Swan at Peasholme Green. Where do we meet? During the winter (September - April), our weekly session is held at Yearsley Baths on Wednesday evenings from 8.00pm to 9.30pm. During the summer (May - September) we meet at our boathouse on the River Ouse from 7pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday evenings. What we offer If you are over 11 then you are welcome in YCC, but for safety reasons we encourage a parent/guardian to accompany you to each session. Under 16's MUST be accompanied by an adult for at least their first session. Fancy trying canoeing? We invite beginners to come along and join us on the first Wednesday of any month. For your first month we'll give you some basic training to get you started safely. - For the more experienced paddler
Weekends and holidays are serious playtimes and YCC members make the most of them. Club trips are organised throughout the year. We paddle all over Northern England, Wales and Southern Scotland - some of our 'regulars' are the Upper Tees, the Kent, the Lune and the Wharfe, but why stop there? Our more advanced paddlers are spoilt for choice on a wet weekend in winter, with the Dales, Lake District and North Wales all in striking distance for a day of adrenline fuelled entertainment. Out of season we're regulars at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham, Teesside, the Tryweryn and the Washburn and we have the pick of some of the finest surf beaches in the North East. If all that sounds a bit run of the mill, how does the Zambezi or the White Nile grab you? In the last year, YCC paddlers have ripped it up in France, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Canada, the USA, Uganda and Zambia. We've even been known to dabble in a spot of sea kayaking ... And, did we tell you, we're more than just a canoe club... How to contact us To get in touch visit our website at http://www.yorkcanoeclub.co.uk/
