Members of the Yorkshire RDT and White Rose Canoe Club recently took part in a litter pick on the banks of the river Aire near Armley Mills. The aim of the day was to clear litter and debris from the towpath and a stretch of woodland in between the canal and river, tidying up the area for all river users.
The day was organised by Aire Action Leeds in partnership with the BTCV. There were around ten volunteers helping out on the day, collecting nearly fifty bags of rubbish and making a real improvement to the area. Hopefully schemes like this will make urban rivers like the Aire more pleasant to paddle.
