Written by Website Manager
Friday, 05 June 2009
The concept of coach update is to provide opportunities for personal development and encouraging all coaches to keep up to date with developments in our sport and indeed in general Sports coaching. This event does just that, it provides the necessary personal development to re-validated your coaching status while providing a way for existing Level 2 coach to start the process of transferring to the new UKCC scheme.

Workshops include; Fundamentals of paddlesport, Caoching Young People, Open Boat Rescues and Sailing Skills.

For more information contact Stuart Teal - LCO Humderside Location : Ancholme Leisure Centre, Brigg. DN20 9JH

Student cost
This has yet to be established. Various funding options are being considered and applied for.
We hope to make this unique opportunity within the financial means of most, but at the
moment, with no funding, we estimate the cost to be around £500.00 for the five days. This
will include the cost of accommodation, travel and coaching. We do hope to reduce this cost
significantly.
Teacher cost
You will pay your way! Evening supervision will fall to the teachers. In return they will get the
opportunity to observe, work with and be coached by the session leaders.
How to apply
It’s still early days. To register your interest as a young paddler or a teacher, please email:

We will not hold anybody to any commitment yet, we just need to get a feel for numbers. Very
soon we will send you an application pack along with a clearer idea of the programme, staffing
and actual cost.

Written by John Elvidge
Monday, 29 September 2008
Dick Constable, our chairman and Keith Saunders, vice chairman, have finished a 4 year stint and are not standing for re-election. Keith is going to continue as acting Secretary for Manvers and Dick will support the RDT for the next year. We also have a vacancy for an independent rep. to give input without any ties to a specific position. The rest of the committee are willing to stand, but we do need a new Chairman & Vice Chairman. Written by John Lucas
Sunday, 21 September 2008

In order for the BCU to recognize your coaching qualifications up-to-date you are required to have your First Aid Certificate logged on your record.

For Level 1 and 2 coaches this needs to be a minimum four hours training including CPR/EAV. For Level 3 coaches and above, eight hours including CPR/EAV is required. A list of acceptable first aid awards is published on the BCU website (www.bcu.org.uk)

Please send us a copy of your latest first aid certificate!
